Rally teaches and supports Agile management practices that were originally defined in the Agile Manifesto, as well as Lean software development principles. The Agile Manifesto focuses on the following main points:
The Rally platform includes modules for project management, requirements management, reporting, time tracking, idea management, quality management and portfolio management. It also contains an app catalog and connectors with other tools.
Rally has 20 Agile coaches, including 6 Certified Scrum Trainers, certified through the Scrum Alliance.
Agile University offers courses in project management, scrum and lean methods, collaboration, and Agile Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Agile Certified Product Owner (CSPO) certifications. The mission of Agile University is to instill Agile principles, share knowledge of Agile practices and advance the adoption of Agile approaches. Faculty members represent 16 different organizations, and over 15 additional trainers are independent.
On June 7, 2011, Rally Software announced that it has raised $20 million in funding led by Meritech Capital Partners (an investor in companies like Facebook, NetSuite and Salesforce.com). The funding will be used for growth and to accelerate adoption of Rally’s platform for Agile development. [6]
A primary company objective is zero carbon footprint IT. They are trying to benchmark waste per employee and drive this number down toward zero, citing Interface, Inc. as inspiration. They plan to share their methods with others in the industry.[7]
Rally was certified as a B Corporation in May 2010.[8]
